| Troubleshooting
The most common problem encountered with your QuickMeasure digitizer system is a non-responsive digitizer. There are typically two reasons why the digitizer will not respond.
Cannot find Wintab32.dll
If you are installing QuickMeasure for the first time or you are installing QuickMeasure on a new computer you may encounter the error "Cannot find wintab32.dll" (QuickMeasure ver. 2.0-2.3). This means that the wintab or TabletWorks driver for your digitizer has not been installed on this machine.
1. If it has been some time since you have purchased your digitizer, we reccomend going to the manufacturers website and download the latest driver for your particular digitizer. If you are using a GTCO digitizer, the driver can be found under the Support menu at www.gtco.com. Once you have downloaded and installed the driver, your digitizer pen/cursor should act like a mouse when held close to the digitizer at the Windows desktop. Installing the wintab or TabletWorks driver will eliminate the "Cannot find wintab32.dll" message.
Non-responsive Digitizer
You have been using QuickMeasure for some time, in fact recently, and it has worked fine but the digitizer in not responding. 1. This is typically caused by the digitizer being "locked up". To resolve this, exit out of both Microsoft Excel and QuickMeasure. At the top of the GTCO Roll Up you will find two phone jacks and a black AC Adapter plug. Unplug the black AC Adapter plug and the middle phone jack at the top of the digitizer. Then, plug the black AC Adapter plug in first, then the phone jack in second. You should hear several beeps. Go back into QuickMeasure and the digitizer should be working fine.
2. On the GTCO Super L Board you will need to exit QuickMeasure then hit the Reset button found on the digitizer controller box on the back of the digitizer board. Re-enter the QuickMeasure software.
Sentinel Key Problems
Each time the QuickMeasure software launches it check for the Rainbow Sentinel Super Pro key, which should be attached to either the parallel or printer port of your computer or to one of the USB port (purple USB key). If the key is not attached, exit QuickMeasure and attach the Rainbow key. If QuickMeasure recognizes the Rainbow key, the Template Orientation and Test Digitizer options under the Options menu in QuickMeasure will be active and not grayed out. If the options are grayed out and the key is attached, follow these steps. 1. Exit QuickMeasure.
2. Pop the QuickMeasure CD into the CD ROM Drive.
3. When the installation process starts, click "Cancel" then "Exit Setup".
4. Right click your mouse on the the START button and then select EXPLORE from the menu.
5. Find and click on the CD ROM Drive that contains the QuickMeasure CD(typically drive D)
6. If you are using the purple Sentinel USB key, remove the key from the USB drive. If you are using the parallel key leave it attached.
7. Find and install "Sentinel Protection Installer 7.3.0.exe". All of the responses are the default responses except you will want to respond with "Complete" instead of "Custom".
8. Reboot the computer after the driver has been installed then re-connect the purple USB key.
Palm Pilots.
1. If a Palm Pilot is installed on the computer you may need to modify the Sync setting in the Palm Pilot software. If you launch the Palm Pilot Desktop there should be a section of the software dedicated to the Hot Sync setup. Under that configuration window you will find two options. The first activates the Hot Sync on startup and is active any time the computer is powered on. The second, which is the option that needs to be selected, only activates the Hot Sync when the Palm Pilot software is activated.
